Hello and thank you for subscribing to the Bike Shorts newsletter.

In case you forgot who we are, Bike Shorts is a monthly film screening of original material using the bicycle as an element, no matter how small. Send us your animations, your documentaries, your alleycat films, your spoofs, your dramas, your experimental pieces... anything.

Our first screening is 8pm on Sunday, June 24th at Monkeytown in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. There will be a $2 cover, and an $8 food or drink minimum. Oh, and we shouldn't forget to mention that there's a $100 cash prize for the best film of the night. How are we going to determine that? Audience participation. So bring your friends and make sure they root for you.

Now, we see you all out there with cameras, and there is no lack of creativity floating around the bike scene, so let's see it! Keep your submissions to five minutes or less. If your piece is 6 minutes long, we're not going to be hardasses and tell you that you're ineligible, but if it starts to drag around the 5 minute mark with no end in sight, you know it's time to do a bit more editing.

You can mail us a CD, DVD, or MiniDV tape, or arrange an FTP transfer. All videos we receive will be used only for the event for which it was submitted. We will not transfer it to anyone else, sell it, or even show it ever again without receiving permission from you.

Send your submissions to

Bike Shorts, c/o Luke Stiles

**************************************************************
SUBMISSIONS ARE DUE JUNE 18TH - ONE WEEK BEFORE THE SCREENING!

ANYTHING RECEIVED AFTER THAT DATE WILL NOT BE SCREENED IN JUNE

Again, thank you for subscribing to our newsletter. You'll probably get an email once or twice a month from us. And it'll be chock-full of relevant, important information you won't want to miss. Now get out there and make some stuff! Your deadline is only 19 days away!

PS: If we are going to keep this thing going, we need you to keep making great stuff, so let us help! Is there an idea you want to get off your back burner? We want to get you people together. Make sure you come to our event to meet the people who can help you get your idea done!

Finally! Wanna be part of a Bike Shorts feature? Ken is throwing an alleycat this Saturday, June 2nd specifically for Bike Shorts. Footage from this quick, Midtown Manhattan race will be shown exclusively at the June 24th screening. Meet at Columbus Circle at 3pm to race. Entry fee is $5; winner-take-all.
